Attention 9th graders: You will have the opportunity to tour 3 programs at the GACTC. Ninth grade homeroom teachers have the tour form for students to complete. Please fill out and return to your homeroom teacher by December 5. If you have any questions, please see or email your counselor. Also, the GACTC is having an open house on December 10 from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. All are invited.
Attention students dually enrolled with Mount Aloysius: Please see the Community Service workers in the Guidance Office to pick up your t-shirt by the end of this week. Any shirts not picked up will be donated to Rachel’s Closet.
Attention Astronomy Club: Due to a scheduling conflict, today’s Astronomy Club after school meeting is being moved to Thursday, November 21 st . We’ll recap Haunted Fort Roberdeau, pass out permission slips for the club’s holiday party, and enjoy an extra spooky Mr. Krug presentation on the dome. Hope to see you there.

Attention students interested in joining the Mock Trial Team: The case will be released today, November 14! Please pick up a copy of the case from Mrs. Negri during the school day on Friday! Our next practice will be on Monday, November 18 after school from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m.

The November meeting for FBLA must be rescheduled. The new date will be November 21 in B130 at 2:45 p.m. However, all field trip permission slips must be turned in by November 15. If I do not have your slip, you will not be registered to attend regionals.
Attention 9th grade boys planning on trying out for basketball: There will be an open gym today, November 14 from 4:30 p.m. – 6 p.m. at the junior high. Also, an important reminder that if you did not play a fall sport, you will need a physical in order to attend tryouts. Winter physicals will be right after school today in the hallway outside the training room in the A building.
Attention anyone interested in trying out for the Boys Basketball team: Physicals for anybody who is trying out for boys basketball will be today at 3 p.m. in the Training Room in the Fieldhouse. Physical packets can be completed online and then you will see the doctor after school today. If you do not have a physical completed, you cannot try out for basketball. Basketball tryouts will be held on the following days: Friday, November 15, from 4:15 p.m. – 6:15 p.m., Saturday, November 16, from 8 a.m. – 10 a.m. and Monday, November 18, from 6:15 p.m. – 8:15 p.m. You must be present for all three days unless excused by the coaching staff.
Seniors: Are you planning to attend college after graduation? Have you completed at least 25 hours of documented community service and maintain at least an 85% or higher in all of your classes? If you can answer “yes” to all of these questions, be sure to stop by the literature rack outside of Guidance and pick up an application for the Richard L. McEldowney Academic Scholarship. The deadline to submit a completed application to the Guidance Office is December 4 – no exceptions.
The American Legion is announcing several Scholarship Opportunities for students in grades 9 through 12, as well as an Essay contest with cash prizes. The essay is entitled: “Is the American Dream Still Relevant Today?” and must be submitted by January 8. There is a separate opportunity through their High School Oratorical Scholarship Program where the winner is awarded a $7,500 Scholarship in a constitutional speech contest with an application deadline of December 1. If these opportunities are not a good fit for you, the American Legion has also provided information about 4 additional scholarships and 2-week long camps with the possibility to earn more scholarship money.
